Yorkshire Museum – Walk On a Geological Map
In early September you will have the chance to walk on a map! Yorkshire Museum is creating a walk-on representation of the Yorkshire section of William Smith’s 1815 map will be laid out in Museum Gardens, York.
The map will be a mosaic of pebbles with colours chosen to represent the colours used in Smith’s original map.
• Also ‘Alan’ the very old sauropod dinosaur is on display until the end of the summer holidays. He was found in Whitby 15 years ago and is 174-170 million years old!
• ‘Yorkshire’s Dinosaur Coast’, a mini trail will pick out some other fossils from the time.
