Funeral of Zofia Kielan-Jaworowska

Zofia Kielan Jaworowska was a polish palaeobiologist who famously led a series of Polish-Mongolian paleontological expeditions to the Gobi Desert in the 1960s. She was the first woman to serve on the executive committee of the International Union of Geological Sciences. Amongst many other fossil species she is credited with the first description of Deinocheirus.

“Dear All,

Me and my family are deeply sad to inform you, that yesterday morning my grandmother Zofia Kielan-Jaworowska passed away at the age of 89. She left us quietly, in her sleep as an accomplished and much loved, brilliant woman.
The funeral ceremony will take place on Friday, March 20th at 14:30 PM at Cmentarz Komunalny Północny (Sala B).
